How Energy Ratings Affect Your Renovation

Couple watching house energy efficiency

Depending on the size of your renovation, energy ratings could be an issue. This is something that not everyone is aware of. It depends on the size of any extra rooms added to your home. And on your ratios of old to new. In some cases you may have to bring your whole house up to current standards.

This means that your entire house then has to meet the current six star energy rating. This could turn your renovation into a very expensive exercise. Getting it wrong could blow your budget in no time. Especially if it involves extra insulation and double glazing for example.

The larger you go with your renovation, the greater the chance that energy ratings will be an issue. The extra expenses you may incur here may also affect your capitalization. So it’s best to talk with us at an early stage. We can then give you a better picture of how your energy ratings are going to impact your costs.
